Rhino for Footwear Design

Advanced 3D Modeling for Shoe Uppers, Soles & Components

Course Overview

This specialized course is crafted for footwear professionals who want to transition from sketches and 2D concepts into precise, production-ready 3D models using Rhinoceros 3D. Learners will master the creation of shoe uppers, sole units, accessories, and complete footwear assemblies with an industry-focused workflow.
From concept visualization to prototyping and manufacturing outputs, the course combines creativity with technical accuracy—helping designers bring innovative footwear ideas to life in digital form.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Navigate Rhino confidently for footwear-focused modeling workflows.
  • Build anatomically accurate 3D shoe uppers over digital lasts.
  • Design performance-driven midsoles, outsoles, heels, and tread patterns.
  • Create trims, accessories, branding details, and hardware components.
  • Apply precision surfacing and solid modeling techniques.
  • Prepare files for rendering, rapid prototyping, and manufacturing.
  • Develop complete footwear concepts in professional 3D presentation format.
